The Discomfort of Courage

The Discomfort of Courage

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Winston Churchill

Courage is a key element in successful leadership, BusyCoach. Great leaders are willing to do what others will not. Namely, become comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Those with more reserved temperaments display courage in standing and sharing their opinions and thoughts. They may lack confidence that their opinion even matters, but with courage they speak it aloud anyway.

Others who are more outgoing and enjoy talking and sharing, show courage by choosing to sit still and listen. It takes courage for them to believe that stopping and listening is not a waste of time, but may result in a wise, helpful or new perspective. While it may be uncomfortable, they do it anyway.

BusyCoaches face opportunities daily to be courageous. How will you choose to become comfortable with the uncomfortable today?

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
